What you’ll learn
I can use the relationship of canon effectively.
Key learning points
- Move: using canon in a dance involves accuracy of timing and an awareness of others.
- Think: identifying our role models causes us to reflect on the values we think are important.
- Feel: sharing our values involves integrity.
- Connect: complimenting others is a way to demonstrate respect.
Words to know
- canon
- when an action is performed at different times
- role models
- people whose behaviour we admire
- emphasis
- highlight or stand out
Common mistakes
Pupils are likely to focus on people who are famous.
It is entirely possible that pupils are naturally drawn to people who are famous, but it is still feasible to identify the qualities and behaviours that have made them successful such as hard work, determination or courage.
For parents, carers and teachers
- During the warm up, give the pupils a countdown in which the groups have to create their shape or action.
