I can ask and answer questions about favourite things and use singular and 'nous' form present -er verbs to say what I do with others.
Key learning points
- Spelling words accurately in French is tricky and needs regular practice.
- To say 'she/he' + verb in French, the verb often ends in -e.
- To say 'we' + verb in French, the verb usually ends in -ons.
- 'Préféré(e)' means favourite in French and has an extra -e added at the end when describing a feminine noun.
- When listening in French, taking brief notes of key words in English and/or using a support grid can help understanding.
Words to know
- il
- The subject pronoun for 'he' in French.
- elle
- The subject pronoun for 'she' in French.
- nous
- The subject pronoun for 'we' in French.
- adjective
- Word that gives information about a noun.
Common mistakes
Préféré(e) is often spelt wrong, with not enough, or indeed too many accents!
'Préféré' is favourite in its masculine form. The e that is added in the feminine form does not have an accent; 'préférée'.
For parents, carers and teachers
- It would be fun to use mini whiteboards for this lesson. For example, for the consolidating vocabulary checks for understanding, pupils could practise writing the words (especially préféré(e)!) on whiteboards before the practise tasks.
