Key learning points
- Modal verbs and the conditional with vouloir are helpful for describing work tasks and future career hopes and plans.
- The conditional with vouloir can be used to personalise your writing and speaking.
- Creating a checklist for range of language and another for accuracy can enhance the quality of extended writing.
- When developing a personal response it's helpful to use reference materials to look up new vocabulary.
Words to know
- modal verb
- verb of necessity or possibility used with a 2nd verb in infinitive e.g. must, can, want
- conditional
- describes what could or would happen under certain conditions
Common mistakes
Verbs with 'de' e.g. 'persuader de', 'conseiller de' do not need to be followed by a second verb in its infinitive form.
All French verbs with 'de' are always followed by a second verb in its infinitive form. There may be a preposition or an object pronoun between the two verbs but a second verb in its infinitive form will always follow.
For parents, carers and teachers
- The model responses in the tasks for cycle B are designed to be aimed high. It is worth pointing out to students that key factors are writing in full sentences, correct verb conjugations, accurate use of chosen structures.
