What you’ll learn
I can show respect to others and support and encourage their best efforts.
Key learning points
- Move: moving in response to the actions of others can make sure I am in a good position to support them.
- Think: helping others to problem solve and make decisions can help my team to complete challenges.
- Feel: striving to apply my very best effort will help my team to be successful.
- Connect: supporting and encouraging others demonstrates gratitude.
Words to know
- respect
- to treat others with kindness and care, showing that you value them and their ideas
- support
- to offer help when it is needed
- encourage
- to provide positive acknowledgement and motivation
Common mistakes
Some pupils might think that you should only cheer and congratulate success, e.g., scoring a point or beating an opponent.
All players, on all teams, should be cheered and congratulated for their effort, regardless of who scores the points, who wins or which team they are playing for.
For parents, carers and teachers
- This lesson provides opportunities to reinforce a growth mindset that celebrates effort and improvement that can lead to the achievement of a goal.
