What you’ll learn
I can work as a team to solve a navigation task against the clock.
Key learning points
- Move: precise movements in the right direction are achieved by always facing forwards.
- Think: negotiation involves critical thinking skills to reach a mutually beneficial agreement.
- Think: elimination involves considering and then rejecting possible choices.
- Feel: being part of a team to solve a problem stimulates feelings of self-worth.
- Connect: adaptability is essential when working as part of a team to problem solve.
Words to know
- process of elimination
- the act of considering and rejecting each possible choice until there is only one left
- decision making
- the action or process of making important decisions by gathering information and assessing the options carefully
- communication
- a means of sending or receiving information via speaking, listening, or non-verbal approaches like signalling and body language.
Common mistakes
Letting the most vocal pupils make all the decisions as they have the answers.
The loudest people don't always have the best ideas. If you are a dominant character it is especially important to invest time in learning how and when to be quiet, to listen or to invite others to contribute.
For parents, carers and teachers
- Pre make 6-7 tarpaulins pre-lined with masking tape if this is an activity you are likely to repeat, thus save drawing grids out in chalk each time.
