fundamental movement skills
the basic building blocks for more complex skills such as running, jumping, throwing and catching
agility
the ability to change direction at speed and keep control of the body. It is important when dodging
coordination
the ability to use two or more body parts at the same time. For example, hand-eye or foot-eye coordination

fundamental movement skills (FMS) are only needed at primary school.

FMS underpin good movement in any activity and in wider life, so it is essential that we continue to practise and hone these basic movements.

For parents, carers and teachers
