What you’ll learn
I can send and receive equipment and be fair when taking turns with a partner.
Key learning points
- Move: foccusing on the object we send and receive produces successful passes.
- Think: deciding how hard or soft to send equipment will ensure an accurate pass.
- Feel: being honest and taking turns fairly means eveyone can enjoy the game.
- Connect: listening to others and including everyone shows empathy.
Words to know
- focus
- giving something your full attention
- partner
- someone you play or work with
- take turns
- doing something one after another
Common mistakes
Pupils throw equipment too high or throw overarm, and then blame their partner for being unable to catch it.
Encourage underarm throwing with a gentle force to help ensure all partners can catch and succeed.
For parents, carers and teachers
- It's ok for some pupils to work in groups of 3, if it makes PE a more positive experience for them. Display the keywords and refer to them regularly. Teach pupils about the word empathy. Throwing and catching soft toys is a more accessible option for some pupils who struggle with catching.
