What you’ll learn
I can recognise how correct nutrition can aid training.
Key learning points
- Move: fitness training with correct form will burn off calories from specific food items.
- Think: awareness of how a balanced diet supports growth, development and training.
- Feel: burning off unused, empty calories from sugar can give a sense of achievement.
- Connect: discussing nutritional habits fosters empathy and support, showing investment in each other's well being.
Words to know
- nutrition
- The process of providing or obtaining the food needed for health and growth
- macronutrients
- the nutrients needed in large amounts by the body, including carbohydrates, proteins and fats
- micronutrients
- the vitamins and minerals needed by the body in small amounts
Common mistakes
Everyone needs exactly the same nutritional plan.
Different people have different nutritional needs, at different times in life, especially when training for different activities.
For parents, carers and teachers
- Print enough of the correct diet plates per pair and a few of the incorrect. Laminate your diet plate sections and use white board pens to write on food examples so you can use them again. Do be sensitive to/aware of specific pupil's dietary needs or any triggers to diet/nutrition they may have.
