What you’ll learn
I can review the performance of different players in a game to suggest ways to improve.
Key learning points
- Move: defending from your knees on the edge of the ‘D’ helps to get low and retrieve a shot.
- Think: catching the ball mid-air uses up 1 step as you land, or 2 if you land with both feet simultaneously.
- Feel: integrity requires adhering to ethical principles/standards, even when it is challenging or may hinder winning.
- Connect: signals, verbal cues and team talks enable a team to work together effectively.
Words to know
- short
- a fault where the ball does not hit the rebound frame during an attempted shot at the tchoukball frame
- analyst
- a person who examines information methodically to interpret trends and make informed
- team talk
- providing a briefing to help motivate and inform players on what to do
Common mistakes
Pupils think a short is associated with the height of a shot.
A short is when a shot misses the rebound frame completely. It results in a fault and change of possession with the defenders restarting play from behind the baseline.
For parents, carers and teachers
- This lesson involves 7-a-side games with bigger teams and analysis roles, but with some groups, you may prefer to stick to the 5-a-side format.
