What you’ll learn

I can categorise vocabulary to aid mastery, accurately apply adjective endings and take part confidently in a conversation about places to live.

Key learning points

  • Adjective endings change depending on the gender, case and number of the noun they describe.
  • Adjective endings also depend on whether they follow the definite article, the indefinite article or no article.
  • Adjective agreement only occurs when the adjective comes before the noun.
  • A well-developed response has at least three verb clauses.
  • Extend your answers by using a different tense, a different subject, or opinions and reasons.

Words to know

adjective agreement
when the ending of an adjective matches the noun it describes in gender, case and number

Common mistakes

Like in a role-play, I should keep my answers short and concise in a conversation.

Conversation answers should be developed and extended with at least three verb clauses.

For parents, carers and teachers
  • Brainstorming questions before tackling a conversation on a given theme is a step often missed out by students. If they do this regularly in class, it will also help them to anticipate possible questions in the speaking exam.
