What you’ll learn
I can interpret the music to create movements with a partner that express emotions and how we are feeling.
Key learning points
- Move: responding to the music with clear actions helps us to express an emotion to others.
- Think: reflecting on our own and other people's movements can help us develop and improve our performance.
- Feel: striving to consistently match our movements to different emotions requires discipline and self-motivation.
- Connect: helping each other create movements that are linked to emotions shows respect and trust in one another.
Words to know
- respond
- what you do or feel after something happens
- expression
- showing how you feel
- emotions
- feelings that we have in response to a situation, event or thought, which influence our mood or behaviour.
Common mistakes
Pupils think everyone will feel the same way when they hear a piece of music and respond with the same actions and expressions.
Explain to pupils that we might feel and respond the same way, but it is just as likely that we will feel differently as a number of factors will influence how we feel, including our mood and experiences that day.
For parents, carers and teachers
- Play a wide variety of music and allow pupils time to feel and respond in their own unique way.
