What you’ll learn
I can collaborate and communicate effectively in a team to create simple attacking and defending tactics.
Key learning points
- Move: when attacking and defending, we need to be fast and agile to be more successful as a team.
- Think: collaborating in between games to develop attacking and defensive tactics improves our team's performance.
- Think: being able to explain tactical ideas to our team shows we understand the game and can improve our performance.
- Feel: striving to play by the rules and encouraging others to do the same shows self-discipline.
- Connect: striving to lead and support everyone in the team, particularly those who are struggling, shows empathy.
Words to know
- tactics
- a carefully planned set of actions that are used by a team or an individual to achieve a certain goal
- defending
- preventing the opposition (attackers) from scoring
- attacking
- trying to score points or goals
Common mistakes
Pupils disregard their tactics once they start playing the game, getting distracted by everything else that is going on in the game.
Ensure pupils understand their tactics and make an effort to use them during the game. Highlight and praise pupils that manage this.
For parents, carers and teachers
- Using smaller team sizes should ensure that pupils are not standing around for long periods of time, waiting for their turn.
