I can use verbs, nouns and adjectives with prepositions, including da-compounds, and I can take part in a role-play scenario.
Key learning points
- Some verbs are followed by prepositions and the accusative case, and some are followed by prepositions and the dative.
- Some nouns and adjectives are followed by set prepositions and cases, which, like the verbs, need to be learnt.
- The prefix 'da(r)-' can be added to prepositions to refer to something already mentioned. This is called a da- compound.
- When performing a role-play, answers should be a short phrase or sentence. Do not add unnecessary detail.
- It is helpful to categorise vocabulary by theme when revisiting large number of words.
Words to know
- preposition
- a word that is used before a noun, a noun phrase, or a pronoun, connecting it to another word
- da- dar-
- prefix added to prepositions to avoid repetition of the noun
Common mistakes
I should include as much detail as possible in role-play answers.
When performing a role-play, answers should contain one verb and be concise. Do not add unnecessary detail.
For parents, carers and teachers
- There are two versions of the role-play in Learning Cycle 3. Option 1 is for Higher students and Option 2 is for Foundation students.
