I can develop past-tense conversations using the perfect and preterite tenses.
Key learning points
- The 'look, cover, write, check' method is a useful way to revisit vocabulary.
- You can develop past-tense conversation answers by using a variety of tenses, such as the perfect and preterite.
Words to know
- perfect tense
- used to express what has happened, e.g. 'I have listened', 'I have bought'
- preterite tense
- used to express single, completed actions in the past, e.g. 'I listened', 'I bought'
Common mistakes
'I played' in Spanish is 'jugé'.
'I played' in Spanish is 'jugué'. An extra 'u' is added after the 'g' to preserve the hard [g] sound.
For parents, carers and teachers
- Starter and Exit Quiz Qs 2 contain Higher Tier vocabulary. Learning Cycle 1 also tests Higher Tier vocabulary, and alternative versions of the slides, that are suitable for Foundations Tier students, can be found on the slide deck.
