What you’ll learn
I can create art from natural materials that have been collected from my surroundings.
Key learning points
- Move: engaging your core muscles increases stability and balance when lifting heavier objects.
- Think: running style can be adjusted following the assessment of increased risk when carrying objects.
- Feel: using contrasting natural materials to produce artwork creates a sense of delight.
- Connect: using natural materials to create art is environmentally sustainable and is possible in a range of settings.
Words to know
- texture
- the feel or appearance of surfaces, such as rough bark or smooth stones
- contrast
- using differences in colour, shape or texture to highlight parts of the artwork
- composition
- the overall arrangement of natural elements in the artwork
Common mistakes
Individual objects can't be used to make art.
If we collect a range of materials in contrasting colours and various textures, we can combine them to produce a nice composition.
For parents, carers and teachers
- Find examples (online) of art work made from natural materials to inspire the pupils. Perhaps also have some materials avilable for them to use in additon to what they can find in case you work during uncertain weather.
